District Wide Assessment Nearly Complete…

The District Wide Assessment that took place in July and August, is in its final phase. All the data has been received and compiled. A 'think tank' of nine people, including Jerry Sheveland, President of the BGC, and Ray Swatkowski, Executive V.P. of the BGC, met in September to review the data, make observations and recommendations based on the information.

Representatives of the 'think tank' of then brought the observations and recommendations to the MBC Board of Overseers the next day, who gave additional input and refinement to the recommendations.

Currently, Dan Peterson and Gary Schroeder have been presenting the findings to pastors and their staff members plus lay leaders across the district in regional cluster meetings. Cluster meeting participants are also given an opportunity to respond both verbally and through an additional written response instrument.

Once the cluster meetings are completed and the final responses are compiled into measurable data sets, the MBC Board of Overseers will once again review the information. Following final approval results will be published both on the web as well as in print for each church.

The goal of this assessment was to give the constituency an opportunity to have input on the direction that the MBC should be taking over the next five to 10 years. The forms were mailed to all senior and associate pastors and anyone they might select from their church to complete the assessment; all pastor's wives; all church board chairpersons and mission chairpersons; the MBC Board of Overseers; MBC Ministry Teams; and the Camping Ministry Team. Forms were also available on the MBC website for anyone to access and complete.

Forms did not have to be signed to be returned, thereby providing anonymity to those who wished it.

Copies of the Observations and Recommendations may be requested after December 1, 2005 by contacting office@bgcmideast.com or by calling the MBC office at 330.757.7970.
