The following support development guidelines outlines the areas church planters and their families should consider when raising personal support. They are:

Letter Campaign

Identify a list of potential donors.  These should include family, friends, and referrals (“a friend of mine might be interested in what you are doing…”).  In a three-month period, each person on your potential support list should receive three (3) letters from you.  The letters should follow this schedule:

  1. Letter with no reply card.  Information only!
  2. Letter with focused appeal.  Include a reply card (general) and a reply envelope.
  3. Letter with focused appeal.  Include a prayer card and an update on your current status.

Mail

Send your letters with a reply card and envelope for easy return to Converge MidAtlantic office.  We will supply you with an initial supply of envelopes for your convenience.

Personal Contacts

Consider an invitation to your home for dinner or dessert.  Share your vision with those who may be interested in providing both prayer and financial support.

Updates

Keep your partners updated by regular contact (at least every other month).  They will have ownership and an understanding of your ministry.
